Stalker

So a while ago (last week?), the day care folks moved Max's crib. Last night, Wei Yan filled me in on why he was moved. So apparently the girl baby in the next crib would be put in her crib (right next to Max's crib) for naps, but not end up sleeping any because she would spend the whole time standing up in her crib (she's older) and looking over the side into the mirror (each crib has a mirror) and staring at Max the whole time! She is also the same girl that figured out how to get into Max's car seat under his crib & pull out everything in it. :-) When we return for our vacation next week, he'll be in a new room with a new infant - so he'll be going from youngest in his class to oldest! Ok, so I realize I'm not telling this story very well, but we gotta pack!

more rolling over

yesterday max rolled from his belly to his back once...and that was it. no rolling from his back to his belly like he did on Sunday. so the day care folks are still watching to see what he'll do. they said he tried a whole bunch of times to roll back to belly but never quite made it.

he seems to be feeling better already. course me on the other hand, just got back from work early...running a fever so gonna try to rest before max is back from day care with dad. wei yan had a fever sunday. guess we can't tell if he's got a sore throat, but no fever and only regular tired fussiness at the end of the day so it just seems like he's getting over these bugs a lot quicker than we are. guess at least one perk is that max smiles at his dad when he does pick up.

Max rolled over!

Wei Yan was on the phone and I was rinsing a bottle out. I came back into the living room and Max was on his belly! We got him to do it a few more times and we were amazed. We knew he was close - but yup, he did it. We're so glad he decided to do it on the weekend instead of at day care this week. Oh, and Friday max woke up with yellow boogers...so now we're all sick. And Wei Yan didn't even get better from the last cold yet. This week is gonna be rough!

Car Ride Home

Every day when Max and I are on our way home from day care, he ends up babbling for a bit (it's a special babbling that he only does in the car) and then falls asleep. He is usually so overstimulated & tired from day care that he doesn't sleep long, but boy, sure looks like some good sleep!

Crazy hair

NC summers are hot & humid! Yesterday morning, Max got a little warm in our bed during his post morning snooze!

And this is after Wei Yan tried to calm it down a bit...

It poofed up as soon as it dried. This morning, Wei Yan did Max's hair with the same "do" right before leaving for day care. He said all the day care workers were very disappointed to see Max's hair all calmed down, but I told him I'm sure they wouldn't be disappointed for long since it would dry soon in this heat. Oh, I did tell Wei Yan that Max looks more like he did when he was little with the "bowl haircut" though...not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

my mother's day

We didn't end up doing much for mother's day this year. We had some friends visiting from out of town and that was fine with me, but I was a little upset with Wei Yan for not doing anything but say "Happy Mother's Day" a few times...so today he made it up to me by taking me to brunch and then giving me some earrings with Max's birthstone in it. He also got me a shopping spree and a nice card with some much needed words of appreciation. I never realized so acutely how people need to be appreciated. I mean I knew this was something nice, but it was good for me to realize that this is something that I need. Ok, too bad the Lakers are playing tonight...I'm not going to make it the whole game yet again...

Kickin' It

So Wei Yan woke up this morning and told me to come quick. Max has been kicking a lot lately and these gerber onesies have been looking a bit like gay muscle shirts when he kicks so much they pull down to show a some baby cleavage. This morning he definitely out did himself with the kicking though....

Happy 4 months

So Max is 4 months old. We practiced Lakers cheers in the car on the way home from day care...but Wei Yan ended up trying to start Max on a "Beat LA" cheer. Needless to say, he got a few words and a raised eyebrow look from me.

LOL, Max just blew a HUGE booger bubble with his nose. Only that could take our eyes away from the game. Luckily we have witnesses....

Go Lakers!!!!

Tdap?

I was just reading a magazine and saw and ad saying that adults around infants (under the age of 2) should get a booster for whooping cough. Guess I should look into it....Wei Yan also need to get that chicken pox vaccine too...Anyone heard of this vaccine?

Gross!

One thing I never really thought about when looking forward to seeing Max smile and laugh at us, was that this was a product of him being able to have & express feelings of joy and pleasure...which also comes along with him being able to feel and express displeasure. After a good nap today, Max woke up rather grumpy to say the least. After trying to calm him down a bit, we gave up on that idea and proceeded to get him ready to nurse. We suctioned out his nose since he's been very congested (and even started coughing productively this afternoon) and I tried to nurse him. Boy, was he even more ANGRY! He cried and screamed....so we walked him around a bit with a paci trying to get him to calm down again. We suctioned out his nose REALLY well this time and he was able to eat finally. He really hates having his nose wiped...I think he actually dislikes it more than having it suctioned.

Course he did start to cough a bit & proceeded to spit up all over me while nursing. And when you see pictures of women nursing in books on breastfeeding, they never show a picture of a woman with boogers all over her and her hungry babies nose. Sorry, I know this is more than some folks would like to know, but I ran to get dinner with spit up all over my undershirt just to get out of the house for a bit, so it's been that kind of an evening where I really just don't care that I'm supposed to look like I've got this all together 24-7. So anyway, as we eat dinner, Max is happily laying on his playmat talking to his toys and Wei Yan says to me (the topic of the day), "Do you really think Max is sick???" I don't bother pausing as I shove food into my mouth (I didn't realize I was hungry until I was on the way to pick food up at 8:30pm) and reply "Yup". Wei Yan says, "But he seems so happy now. I wonder what he was so upset about earlier" Wei Yan then decided to check on Max on the mat since we need to wipe his nose every few minutes it seems...and I think we've got our answer about him starting to get sick...
